"The top 5 Malls in Davao City"

1. SM Mall

The SM City Davao is not as big as those in Metro Manila but it is just enough for a city of 1.6 million people (Metro Manila’s population is more than 12 million). Its great to have an SM Mall in Davao since most of the major cities in the Philippines have it.

*This is the left wing parking area of SM City Davao. The mall is located at Ecoland and a few meters from the mall are Times Beach resort, the future site of SM ICT Center and Eco4000 Condominium which is presently underconstruction.

2. Gaisano Mall

Gaisano Mall of Davao aka “G-Mall” is expanding to Sta. Ana Street. The wing expansion will have 7 levels providing additional floor area for shoppers to wander. The mall is simultaneously renovating its interior too making it more pleasant to the eyes of mall goers. Also (though it is still a rumor) when this expansion is finish, a 6 level structure will rise on the other side of the existing building. The management is aiming for a complete new package, a bigger and better mall for its patrons. (Oct. 26) The construction is in full throttle as workers continue building the project even during night.

3. NCCC Mall

It is conveniently located in Ma-a, my place in Davao, the mall is the newest, the most modern, having top notch facilities, great customer service, the coolest entertainment strip.

4. Victoria Plaza

The pioneer of shopping malls in Davao City is no other than Victoria Plaza in Bajada.
In the early 90’s, Victoria Plaza became the first mall in Davao City. I remember how people got so excited on the opening day and went their to experience for the first time what its like being in a mall. It also triggered the beginning of construction boom in the city that totally changed Davao’s skyline. The economic boom positioned the city as the most urbanized in Mindanao.

5. Robinson's Depatment Store at Abreeza Mall

Davao City will have a full-service Robinsons Department Store located at Abreeza, the Ayala Center project here of Ayala Land and the Floriendo Group. Clavel Tongco, Senior Division Head of Ayala Malls based in Cebu City told me that Robinsons Department Store would be the anchor department store at the Ayala Center Davao at Bajada. She said Robinsons would build its own department store connected to the Abreeza Mall. Robinsons recently opened a Cyber Center along JP Laurel but with limited space for stores and restaurants. The entire second level of the center is devoted to BPO business locators. Tongco said the Ayala Center Davao is expected to open in mid 2011 with development cost topping P2.4 billion. The Davao City Investment Incentive Board recently granted its application for local tax holidays.
